Northern Maine Potato Harvest In Full Swing!
Aroostook County is bustling with clear air, frosty mornings, blue skies and sunny fall weather during potato harvest! Area youth get up early in the morning, tune into the radio for start times while parents make big hearty breakfasts to get the potato workers thru the morning to sample the lunches they tote to the fields and potato storage houses. Youth make money for winter clothes; area farmers benefit from the students. Fall harvest is a special time in "The County" and all ages remember their contribution and childhood labor to get the crop out of the ground. See a 25 sec loop of a scene from a potato storage operation. Visit the Maine Potato Board website.
